Immersion Beyond Green Games, dreaming and playing
A nine‑day immersive project in Rio de Janeiro, blending digital arts, environmental education, and collaborative play.
Participants of all ages co‑created machinimas, experimented with eco‑games, undertook augmented nature walks, and prototyped digital works.
The initiative seeks to redefine video games as tools for ecological awareness and social transformation, moving beyond extractive and competitive norms.
Inspired by culturally rooted indie games like Laidaxai, Iteribá, Mulaka, Aurion, participants crafted their own digital narratives through sound, image capture, 3D scanning, and machinima production.
Led by KARERON, Invention Parcs, in partnership with Fabulosa Lab, Futuros Arte e Tecnologia, and NAVE, and supported by the French Consulate in Rio.

Making Films with Green Video Games
A creative workshop in Marseille from October 2024 to June 2025, Isabelle Arvers led a 30-hour workshop at Lycée Saint-Exupéry in Marseille with students from cinema and visual arts classes. The project invited students to explore the intersection of art, video games, and environmental issues. Through a series of hands-on sessions, students learned to:
• Record sounds and 3D scans during an “augmented walk” in the school’s park,
• Play independent “green” video games from the Souths
• Write scripts inspired by eco-conscious narratives
• Use the Cine Tracer engine to design scenes and animate characters,
• Edit their own short films combining game footage, voiceover, and music.
The project culminated in the creation of three short films addressing themes like pollution, climate change, environmental regeneration, and extractivism.
These works were screened at the school and published on the Beyond Green Games YouTube channel.
This workshop offered students a unique opportunity to engage with alternative storytelling methods, discover collaborative and non-extractivist game design, and reflect on the ecological impact of digital entertainment.

creating environmental short films with grades 7 & 8 students
PREM International School – Chiang Mai, Thailand
As part of the Beyond Green Game Immersion series, I had the pleasure of leading a creative workshop at PREM International School in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. This time, the workshop was held with Grade 7 and 8 students from both the French language class and the Intensive English Program.
We began with an augmented walk through PREM’s beautiful Forest School, where students explored their natural surroundings by:
• Capturing 3D scans of trees and forest elements,
• Recording ambient sounds of birds and rivers,
• Taking macro photos and 360-degree videos of plants and landscapes.
Back in the classroom, students learned how to use Cine Tracer, integrating their 3D scans into the Unreal game engine to build immersive environments. They also practiced editing 360° video footage to create new forms of spatial storytelling.
The workshop concluded with the creation of short environmental films. Students wrote and recorded their own scripts, voiced dialogues, and brought their visions to life using the tools and materials they had gathered.
This experience gave students a new lens on how digital technologies and video games can be used to tell stories about nature, raise environmental awareness, and experiment with new forms of creative expression.
